Van W. Martin, SIOR, CCIM, CRE, has been at the helm of Martin Commercial Properties
for over four decades, and with his commitment to excellence, the 61-year-old firm has
grown to become Mid-Michigan’s premier commercial real estate services provider.
Through Van’s strategic leadership, Martin’s team continues to perform at the highest
levels across the five core business lines of brokerage, property development, property
management, corporate services, and investment services.

Nearly 40 years ago, Van founded Martin Property Development providing construction
management, project management, and development services for office, retail, and
industrial properties. In addition, he co-founded and is managing partner of Riverstone
Capital Partners, a private equity real estate fund.

Van’s dedication to his craft has garnered attention. He leads the industry as only one of
33 professionals worldwide to have achieved 3 coveted designations: The Society of
Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR), Counselors of Real Estate (CRE), and Certified
Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). These designations demonstrate his status as a
trusted professional who is recognized among the most knowledgeable, experienced, and
ethical brokerage practitioners. Van’s expertise and vast network of professionals allow
him to leverage knowledge, resources, and influence to generate wins for his clients.
In addition to his designations, Van’s widespread recognition includes awards as one of
the top-200 sales professionals in 2001, 2003, and 2007 for CBRE and Realtor of the Year
for the Commercial Board of Realtors (CBOR) in 2003. Van was also inducted into the
Midwest Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2012.

Community remains at the core of Van’s why, and he has served on the Board of
Directors for the Commercial Board of Realtors® (CBOR), The Commercial Alliance of
Realtors® (CAR), the Michigan Commercial Alliance of Realtors® (MiCAR) and the
Michigan Association of Realtors® (MAR), along with holding various leadership roles
within each organization. In addition, he has served on the boards of Lansing Economic
Area Partnership (LEAP), Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC), Sparrow
Foundation, and Wharton Center for Performing Arts.
